For French people, American food is hamburgers ! Few days ago, I've learnt that hamburgers came from the German city of Hamburg or more exactly from the German emigrants coming from Hamburger and at the beginning it was just minced meat with onions. The bread for sandwiches has been added by workers who ate this low price food for lunch break in the streets. Hot dogs are also from German origins and called like that because of the doubful origin of the meat ...
But in a book for kids entittled "Twice upon a time in the West", I found the delicious Sloopy Joe hamburger recipe and my daughter used to love it before becoming vegetarian ! (I hope, there is no connection ???)
In a pan, you need to melt one tablespoon of butter with one half red pepper cut in small pieces and one medium size onion in small pieces too. When onion is translucent, keep apart.
In the same pan, melt another tablespoon of butter with 450g of minced beef and let it brown. Then add the pepper and onion, 2 teaspoons of chili pepper, one-third of a cup of ketchup (poor little tomatoes !!!), one-third of a cup of worcestershire sauce, and a last one-third of chiken broth. Add also one tablespoon of brown sugar (Yes, it's very sweet !!!) and let stew for 15 minutes.
Eat between two slices of warm bread and slice of lettuce and enjoy like the terrible Arizona cowboy named Sloopy Joe !
A burger it's always a good idea with homemade fries!
Yuuuuuum!!! #loveburgers #thankyougermany
