USA in Paris Challenge - Clue list

Here is the CLUE LIST. You may not have time to get every item, so you will need to prioritize which items to get first. There are different points for each clue, with more points for more difficult items. In order to earn your points, you must:

1) Post a picture or video for each item you find on the blog AND

2) Write a short text (1-2 lines) in English about what you found in EACH blog post.

There will be a PRIZE awarded to the winner with the most points at our celebratory BBQ on June 25th. Maximum points possible: 300


MAY 28 - JUNE 3:

  • Find the statue of an American general with a French General that represents Franco-American friendship. A replica of this statue also exists in New York City. POINTS: 10

  • Try a burger at PNY Marais, 1 rue Perée, 75003 Paris. POINTS: 10

  • Find the the embassy of the state that was an independent nation from 1836-1845. POINTS: 20

  • Eat a donut at Boneshaker Doughnuts, 77 Rue d'Aboukir, 75002 Paris. POINTS: 10

JUNE 4 - 10:

  • Find a picture of the 44th American president at Joe Allen Restaurant, 30 Rue Pierre Lescot, 75001 Paris. POINTS: 20

  • Find a good place to get a cupcake and tell us why this is the best cupcake in Paris in your opinion. POINTS: 10

  • Take a picture of an American "Bill". POINTS: 20

  • Get a cocktail recipe with the signature of the bartender on a cocktail napkin from Harry's New York Bar, 5 Rue Daunou, 75002. POINTS: 30

JUNE 11 - 17:

  • Find the hall, now a hotel, that was home to a school and shop where wealthy Parisians bought American products like Coca-Cola and gum in the 1930s. POINTS: 20     

  • Get an American stranger to tell you a joke and record it on video. POINTS: 30

  • Find someone from California, other than your teacher, and take a picture of yourself with them (extra 5 points if you have them tell you about their favorite place in California). POINTS: 20

  • Find the statue of the American scholar and politician who was elected by Congress as a representative at the Court of Versailles and is the only American whose signature appears on the Declaration of Independence {1776}, the Treaty of the Alliance with France {1778}, the Peace Treaty with England {1783}, and the Constitution {1787} (extra 5 points if you take a picture of yourself striking the same pose as the statue). POINTS: 10

JUNE 18 - 24:

  • Find and take a picture of the plaque that commemorates the treaty that liberated America from Great Britain, ending the American Revolution and granting independence to Americans. POINTS: 10

  • Poll 5 English-speaking people on their favorite book written by an American author. Record your results. POINTS: 20

  • Find the 3 historical sites in Paris (a statue, a palace and a plaque) associated with the third president of the United States. POINTS: 20

  • Find and take pictures of the 3 places where the most famous American Nubian princess can be found in Paris. POINTS: 40
